Certification Videos for IOFM
IOFM is The Institute of Finance & Management and they are a fantastic organization run out of Portland, Maine. One of the things they focus on is educating and certifying professionals in the procure to pay (P2P) and accounts payable fields. The certifications can help grow careers as well as give one the complete understanding of their fields. It’s a win win.
The Certification
Every two years the persons certified will have to take the certification tests again because regulations are always changing so one has to keep them selves updated. They can receive their certifications 1 of 2 ways. They can go to the IOFM yearly conference and take a class for a few days or do it online. This year conference was in Las Vegas, so a lot of people opt for that. Why not? Further your career, go to Vegas, and most likely have your company pay for it.
To Vegas or Not to Vegas
If you’ve decided you’ve been there done that and want to take the tests from the comforts of home or office, you can always take the tests online after watching the videos like the one I’m describing and showing here. Camera crews at the conference will video record the instructors presenting the entire course at the event, put on a hard drive and deliver to the folks at IOFM to edit. I get that footage as well as the PowerPoint presentations and have to match everything up. This year it was 3 different certification course with 37 total chapters which means 37 separate videos that sync the presenter along with their PowerPoint presentations.
The Videos
Syncing the slides to the video and audio is of course the tricky part. You have to pay close attention, because you can’t see the slides; only the instructor. I guess ‘the trick’ would be you can see when the instructor clicks to remote to advance the slides. It doesn’t make it that much quicker, but that’s how to be accurate. That and coffee.
The video above is just a 5 minute sample. The entire course is around the 7 hour mark and and recorded through an entire day while at the IOFM conference in Las Vegas.
